Meet Marc Van Der Chijs, CEO of Spil Games Asia

Marc van der Chijs is a successful Dutch entrepreneur based in Shanghai with a decade of experience doing business in China. He is the CEO of Spil Group Asia and co-founder of Tudou.com, the largest video sharing site in China. Marc is also an angel investor in Chinese start-ups.

He is CEO of Spil Games Asia (casual online games, among others game.com.cn, xiaoyouxi.com, game.co.id and games.co.in), co-founder and director of leading online video site Tudou.com, and an angel investor in and advisor to Chinese Internet start-ups.

After graduating with a Masters degree in Business Economics from Maastricht University in 1995, Marc started his career at Mercedes-Benz headquarters in Stuttgart (Germany). Late 1999 Marc moved to Beijing where he became a financial controller for DaimlerChrysler Northeast Asia. In 2002 Marc decided to quit his job, study Chinese and become an entrepreneur.

Marc is married to Grace Wang, with two children (Scott, born on 27-12-2007, and Elaine, born on 21-05-2009). In his free time Marc likes to participate in endurance sports. Among others he runs marathons, in 2007 he rode a mountain bike from Lhasa through the Himalaya to Kathmandu, and in 2008 he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro.
